Verification is central to Masque. A verified member wears a mark the whole room can see, and every room past the Town Square opens to them. Your legal name never becomes your profile.

Verification costs one real identity. An independent provider checks your government ID and a selfie, confirms you are a real adult, and keeps both. Masque receives one fact: this account is a verified adult.

What the room sees

A painted mask and a handle. Your legal name, your email address and your date of birth are never published to another member.
Blocking removes the person, not a username. A verified account costs a real identity, and a second one on the same identity is caught and closed, so blocking a verified member is not the start of a game of whack-a-mole. If someone does something criminal, that identity is there for law enforcement to find.
Nothing arrives without your consent. No request, no message, no image. A conversation exists only after you accept it.

An agency takes a third to a half of a creator’s income for work a platform should simply do. Here the platform does it, the tools cost nothing, and the difference stays with you. Withdrawals are not open yet, and we would rather say so here than let you find out after you have built something.

We will not tell you the internet can be made safe. Nobody can, and you should be suspicious of anyone who says otherwise. Cruelty exists. Verification proves who opened an account. It cannot prove what they intend, and being verified is not the same as being vetted.
So here is the rest of it, plainly.
- We do not keep your documents. Your ID and your selfie go to our identity provider, which returns a limited result and keeps the rest. If this company were breached tomorrow, there is no file of member names, ID photographs or birth dates to take, because they were never here. Your email address is here, and if it were ever exposed we would tell you.
- We do not publish who you are. Not your email address, your legal name, your date of birth, or your verification images. Not to another member, and not to anyone else.
- We do not claim protections we have not built. An image sent here can still be captured. What we changed is what happens afterwards: every photo we deliver carries a mark tied to the account that received it, and it survives the ordinary ways a picture gets copied and passed around. A determined edit can still defeat it. That makes a leak answerable rather than impossible, and we would rather tell you the difference than let you assume the stronger one.
We publish the numbers we can measure, so you can hold us to it.
